Medical-Surgical Float Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position  
Location: Bismarck, ND 
Job Type: Travel Contract   
Duration: 13 weeks  
Shift: 3x12s Nights 
Pay: $2163.60/week 
Completion Bonus: Up to $7,500 total. (You will receive $2,500 after the successful completion of each of your first 3 contracts with us)

Job Description:  

We are seeking a highly adaptable and clinically versatile Medical-Surgical Float Registered Nurse (RN) to provide expert care across various inpatient units. The Float RN is a critical member of the staffing team, utilizing broad knowledge and exceptional critical thinking to manage diverse patient populations, including those recovering from surgery, managing chronic illnesses, or requiring general medical stabilization. The ideal candidate is highly flexible, thrives in rapidly changing environments, and excels at quickly integrating into different unit teams.

Key Responsibilities:  

• Provide comprehensive, high-quality nursing care to adult patients in assigned medical, surgical, and specialty units (e.g., Telemetry, Ortho, Neuro, Renal, Step-Down, etc.).
• Manage a typical MedSurg patient assignment, including complex wound care, post-operative monitoring, medication administration, and patient education.
• Conduct thorough and accurate patient assessments and rapidly prioritize care needs, adapting to the specific acuity and protocols of the assigned unit.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with unit staff, physicians, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members, quickly establishing rapport and collaboration.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR) specific to the assigned unit.
• Be ready and able to accept assignment changes mid-shift or at the start of the shift based on facility need.

Qualifications:  

• Active RN license in Nebraska.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of recent, diverse Medical-Surgical or Telemetry nursing experience, preferably with previous float or resource pool experience.
• COVID vaccine and recent TB test may be required.
