Corrections Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position  
Location: Roanoke, VA

Pay: $2005.20/week  
Completion Bonus: Up to $4750 total. (You will receive $1550 after the successful completion of each of your first 3 contracts with us)

Job Description:  

We are seeking a resilient and clinically independent Corrections Registered Nurse (RN) to provide essential healthcare services within a correctional facility. This unique role functions similarly to a primary care or urgent care setting, requiring strong assessment skills to triage, stabilize, and manage the health needs of the inmate population. The Corrections RN acts as a vital link in maintaining the health and safety of the facility by managing chronic illnesses, responding to emergencies, and ensuring timely access to medical care. The ideal candidate is adaptable, maintains professional boundaries, and can work autonomously in a structured and secure environment.

Key Responsibilities:  

• Perform rapid, accurate assessments and triage of inmates' medical complaints. Respond to medical emergencies within the facility (e.g., trauma, cardiac events).
• Administer and document medications, including performing medication passes to large groups of inmates under strict security protocols.
• Provide routine care and education for inmates with chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma, and infectious diseases.
• Conduct initial health screenings and assessments for newly incarcerated individuals.
• Maintain detailed, accurate, and confidential medical records within the facility's EMR. Collaborate with correctional officers, medical providers, and mental health staff.
• Maintain strict adherence to all security protocols, professional boundaries, and institutional policies.

Qualifications:  

• Active RN license in Virginia or compact state..
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in correctional nursing, emergency medicine, primary care, or acute medical-surgical nursing.
• Must be comfortable working in a secure, non-traditional healthcare setting.
• Must pass a criminal background check and physical/drug screen required by the correctional facility.
• COVID vaccine and recent TB test may be required.
