Physical Therapist – Acute Care – Travel Position

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapist to join an acute care facility in Tucson, AZ on a 13-week travel assignment. The Physical Therapist will provide rehabilitative services to patients recovering from surgery, illness, or injury in a hospital-based acute care setting. The ideal candidate is adaptable, patient-focused, and experienced in high-acuity environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations for acute care patients.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve mobility, strength, and functional independence.
• Provide therapeutic interventions including gait training, strengthening, mobility, and balance exercises.
• Educate patients and families on therapy goals, home exercise programs, and safe mobility practices.
• Document therapy sessions, progress notes, and care plans accurately in compliance with facility and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Support recovery, independence, and improved quality of life through evidence-based PT practices.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current and valid PT license in Arizona (or compact eligibility).
• Minimum 1 year of recent PT experience in acute care or hospital-based settings.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Strong communication, documentation, and clinical reasoning skills.
• Compassionate and adaptable approach with experience treating diverse patient populations.
• COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
