Inpatient Rehabilitation Physical Therapist – Travel Position

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Inpatient Rehabilitation Physical Therapist to join a healthcare facility in Montrose, CO, on a travel contract. The Physical Therapist will evaluate patients recovering from illness, surgery, or injury, and provide evidence-based therapy to restore mobility, strength, and independence. The ideal candidate is compassionate, adaptable, and experienced in inpatient rehab settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform evaluations to assess patients’ physical abilities, functional needs, and rehabilitation goals.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
• Deliver therapy interventions including gait training, strengthening, balance activities, and functional mobility exercises.
• Educate patients and caregivers on therapy goals, safe mobility, and home exercise programs.
• Accurately document evaluations, progress notes, and therapy sessions in compliance with facility and regulatory standards.
• Work closely with occupational therapy, speech therapy, and nursing staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Support patients in achieving independence and improving quality of life through evidence-based rehabilitation practices.

Qualifications

• Doctorate or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current and valid Physical Therapist license in Colorado (or compact license).
• Minimum of 1 year of recent PT experience, preferably in inpatient rehabilitation.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
• Strong clinical reasoning, documentation, and communication skills.
• Compassionate, patient-focused approach with experience in rehab care.
