Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Asheville, NC
Assignment Type: Travel
Duration: 13 weeks
Schedule: 3x12 Days
Pay: $2,080.80/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Job Description

The Progressive Care RN will provide high-acuity step-down and medical-surgical overflow care in a fast-paced inpatient setting. This unit supports short-stay and rapid-turnover patients, requiring strong telemetry skills, clinical judgment, and the ability to adapt to changing patient needs. Patients are monitored via hard-wired telemetry when indicated.

This role works collaboratively with a supportive nursing and CNA team, delivering patient-centered care with professionalism and compassion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide bedside care for mixed-acuity PCU and Med-Surg patients
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry and patient vital signs
  • Implement care plans and respond to changes in patient condition
  • Manage IV medications, insulin protocols, and blood products (as needed)
  • Perform respiratory support including oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management
  • Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with patients and families
  • Document accurately in Cerner EMR
  • Float to other PCU or Medical-Surgical units as needed
  • Work every other weekend

Qualifications

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact)
  • Minimum 1 year recent PCU/Step-Down experience required
  • Telemetry competency required
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-experience focus
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required
