Pay: $2,080.80/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)

 

 


Job Summary

The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care for cardiac stepdown patients, including those with complex cardiovascular conditions. The RN delivers safe, evidence-based care using advanced telemetry monitoring, titratable cardiac medications, and critical assessment skills.

 

 


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients with cardiac, pulmonary, and metabolic conditions such as CHF, MI, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, DKA, and post-cardiac procedures.

  • Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms; respond to acute changes promptly.

  • Administer and titrate cardiac drips, including nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, insulin, and diuretics (e.g., bumetanide, furosemide).

  • Assist with and recover patients post-cardiac cath, stent placement, pacemaker/ICD insertion, and ablation procedures.

  • Perform bedside cardioversion under provider supervision.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.

  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Cerner EMR.

 

 


Requirements

  • Licensure: Active RN license in the state of North Carolina or compact state

  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS (required)

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 1–2 years of Stepdown/Progressive Care experience

    • Telemetry experience required

    • Experience with titratable cardiac drips required

  • Preferred:

    • Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)

    • Relief charge experience
