Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (ED) Travel Position

Shift: 3×12 Days | Every Other Weekend | Holidays as Scheduled
Pay: $1,908/week (plus $2,290 completion bonus per contract, up to $6,870 after three contracts)

Job Description

ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced and driven Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel contract in Asheville, North Carolina. The RN will work in a high-volume Level II trauma and comprehensive stroke center known for excellence in patient safety and nursing quality.

The Emergency Department includes over 100 beds, serving both adult and pediatric populations with acuity levels ranging from medical emergencies to trauma and behavioral health. The ideal candidate is a confident, adaptable, and compassionate nurse who thrives in fast-paced, team-oriented environments. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency nursing care to adult and pediatric patients in a high-acuity environment.
  • Rapidly assess, triage, and stabilize patients experiencing medical, surgical, or behavioral crises.
  • Administer IV medications, fluids, and advanced life support interventions in accordance with protocols.
  • Utilize monitoring equipment including GE monitors and Baxter pumps for continuous patient observation.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately using the Cerner EMR system.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, technicians, and support staff across all areas of the ED.
  • Maintain compliance with all infection control, safety, and emergency response procedures.
  • Adhere to department expectations for patient experience, including AIDET communication and respectful behavior.
  • Work every other weekend and designated holidays as scheduled to meet department needs.
  • Remain flexible to float between all sections of the Emergency Department as required.

Qualifications

  • Active North Carolina RN license or Compact State RN license (required).
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Level II trauma or high-volume emergency department (required).
  • Certifications (must be active prior to start):
    • BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, and NIHSS (required)
    • ENPC required within 90 days of hire
  • Strong triage, critical thinking, and rapid assessment skills.
  • Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Must demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
